Building knowledge about trades

Group of students who attended the Lunch and Learn with guest speakers and Maggie Palmeri

Students gathered on Friday for our first Lunch & Learn event of the year, which focused on the topic of building knowledge about opportunities in trade industries.

Glenn Marek from New York State Laborers and John D'Antonio and Ron Barett from KidzFirst Youth Development Network shared valuable insights about the different employment opportunities, such as jobs in carpentry, bricklaying, electrical work, roofing, painting, plumbing, ironwork, construction, heating, ventilation & cooling and more!

Additional topics included local apprenticeships and important benefits available in many jobs in the trade industries, such as pensions, annuities and healthcare.

With our extensive course offerings in career and technical education, Albany High is the perfect place for students to explore their interests and potential career pathways post-graduation.

A big shout-out to our guest speakers and Director of Career and Technical Education, Maggie Palmeri, for making this enriching opportunity possible!
