Exploring career opportunities at GlobalFoundries

One of the best ways to explore future career opportunities is by participating in a job shadow experience!

Last Wednesday, 16 students in Christopher Austen's Business Concepts class visited GlobalFoundries in Malta, a leading semiconductor manufacturer. During their tour, they explored various roles, observing yield engineers, repair technicians, environmental and health safety professionals and others in action.

One of the most fascinating parts of the field trip was the career panel. Current employees shared what their job entails and also explained the training and education required for their specific position in the company.

Students also learned about the GlobalFoundries Apprenticeship Program. In partnership with Hudson Valley Community College, this program provides recent high school graduates with training for careers in semiconductor manufacturing.

As electronics continue to play a central role in our day-to-day lives, this is an excellent field for students to learn about as they consider potential career pathways. A special thanks to Joleen Hanlon from Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York and Christine McLear and the GlobalFoundries team for offering our students a glimpse into the professional world of semiconductor manufacturing!
