Students in Theresa Story's Digital Film I and Digital Film II classes got a taste of live broadcasting during a field trip to Channel Albany on Dec. 16.
Located in the basement of the main branch of the Albany Public Library, the studio was the perfect setting for our students to explore the ins-and-outs of broadcast film. Public Access Studio Coordinator Aprecia Cabey was a fabulous guide, sharing fascinating information that helped students connect the dots with what they have been learning in their coursework.
During the visit, our Falcons worked in groups to research a particular topic, including weather, politics and sports. After crafting a script, they then delivered a live broadcast!
This experience not only provided practical insights into the world of broadcast film but also fostered stronger relationships among students through collaboration and creativity.
"It was a really solid bonding trip for the class, which is important when you're working in film since you need to trust each other," Story noted.
We sincerely thank the team at Channel Albany for hosting our students on this unforgettable field trip!
