Volunteer updates for parents and guardians

While the City School District of Albany continues to limit the number of visitors in our buildings due to COVID-19, the district is able to welcome parent and guardian volunteers on a limited basis.

The following requirements apply for parents and guardians wishing to volunteer at their child’s school:

  • The volunteer activity should be targeted and meaningful (i.e., book fairs, field day, field trips, dances/events at the middle schools).
    • “Room parent” opportunities that would occur on a regular basis are not allowed at this time.
  • All parent/guardian volunteers will need to provide proof of vaccination or be tested for COVID-19 just prior to entering our buildings.
  • Proof of vaccination:
    • Principals will keep a record of proof of vaccination of the parent/guardian volunteer.

In alignment with our ongoing COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the district is not currently allowing other volunteers in our buildings unless they are directly affiliated with a community partnership at a specific school.
