Hispanic Heritage and Dual Language Program celebrated

Boy with flag march in parade

Delaware Community School celebrated Hispanic heritage and the 20th anniversary of the bilingual Dual Language Program on Saturday with a parade and a feast!

In the Dual Language Program, students are taught in both Spanish and English. By the time they finish the program at the end of fifth grade, they are fluent in both languages!

A merry and colorful group marched around the neighborhood and returned to school to eat and mingle. Besides several community partners who were on hand, Mayor Kathy Sheehan stopped by the event. And accompanying the party were the percussive sounds of the Washington Park Rumberos.
