About our school
At Delaware Community School, our mission is to work in partnership with our diverse community to engage every learner in a robust educational program designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for success. We work hard to educate the whole child, which includes both academic and social-emotional learning.
Our diverse school is also home to the Dual Language Program, where students are taught in both English and Spanish. This is one of four unique magnet offerings in the City School District of Albany, and is open to students city-wide.
We also work closely alongside our PTA to offer many events during and outside of the school day that strive to bring our richly diverse community together.
Our diversity is our greatest strength, and we are proud to highlight it each and every day.

Principal
This is one of the district’s four magnet offerings open to students city-wide through a lottery. In the program, half the students in each class speak English as their native language and half speak Spanish. Each class covers a regular elementary curriculum, but the students study in both languages with fully bilingual teachers. The week is divided equally between lessons presented in Spanish and lessons presented in English.
Visit our Dual Language page for a more in-depth look at the program.
