Dear Families:

It gives me great pleasure to write to you for the first time as the principal of Delaware Community School. I am incredibly honored to join a school community that is well-known for cultivating a nurturing environment and deep commitment to children. I am certain that these qualities will continue to serve us well as we embark upon a very different school year.

By now you have hopefully had the chance to review the district’s plans for reopening in September. If you haven’t yet seen the plans, they are available on the reopening section of our site.

Also on our site is an Enrollment Choice Form. All families are asked to commit to a learning option for their child, either in-person or virtual learning. If you choose the virtual learning option, your commitment to this will be through November 13. The Enrollment Choice Form will remain open through Monday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. Families who do not submit a form will receive a telephone call from an administrator so the district can complete the important task of scheduling before the first day of school.

If you would like more details about reopening plans or have additional questions prior to completing the form, please consider attending the virtual forums scheduled for next week.

I understand that the start of this school year, more so than any other year, brings with it many questions and concerns. Please know that while school may look different this year, the administrators, teachers and staff are incredibly excited to welcome your children – whether in-person or virtually – and we look forward to working with them this year!
