Get COVID-19 test kits starting Tuesday

COVID-19 home test pickup

Starting Tuesday, Delaware Community School will distribute COVID-19 home test kits to parents and guardians of students.

The school will provide one kit for each Delaware student, and each kit contains two tests. Parents and guardians should report to the Hurlbut Street Main Entrance vestibule during one of the times scheduled below. Face masks are required. Parents and guardians will be asked to complete a student name card that will help ensure that that every student receives a kit.

Tuesday, Jan. 4

  • 3:45-6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 5

  • 8-9 a.m. 
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • 3:45-6 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 6

  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • 3:45-6 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 7

  • 8-9 a.m.

Instructions for testing

  • Please use one test the morning after you pick up the test kit, prior to sending your child to school. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test.
  • The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly.
  • Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes. 
  • If your child tests positive (+), please do the following:
    • Keep your child home from school;
    • Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit;
    • Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link;
    • Notify the school nurse, via email if possible, at aprinzo@albany.k12.ny.us.
