JOB FAIR SATURDAY!
You probably wouldn’t think of math if you heard the words “division draft.” That is, unless you were in Tiffany Moore’s fifth-grade math class at Giffen Elementary.
On Friday, Moore’s students were drafted into the “MFL” (Moore Football League) in a classroom complete with goalposts, turf and several footballs. Students were split into three groups and spent time solving division problems at one of four football-themed stations: point or penalty, concession stand, go-long matchup and Chargers vs. Rams.
While the students worked in groups, Moore -- dressed in a referee’s stripes, carrying a microphone and wearing a whistle – circulated and checked the work at the end of each 20-minute quarter. The student team that got the most problems correct scored a touchdown.
When it was all over, students got to take home the goodies at the concession stand.
