ELA and STEM activities honor Jane Goodall's contributions and scholarship

A third grader reads a book about Jane Goodall.

Grade 3 honored the legacy of Jane Goodall in the best way possible: through research and observation.

On Tuesday, Cynthia Edwards and Maggie Johnson’s students learned about the famed primatologist and her groundbreaking discoveries about chimpanzees.

In science, the students were tasked with building a bug-catching tool that works similarly to how chimpanzees grab and pinch bugs in the wild. The ELA portion of the timely lesson focused on reading and writing biographical information about Goodall and the themes of animal intelligence, animal social structures and conservation.
