Curriculum Night: Jan. 7, 2026

Student in art class

As we approach the new year, we are excited to invite you to save the date for our Curriculum Night at Albany High, which will take place on Jan. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Curriculum Night is an exciting evening designed to highlight all of the amazing course offerings we have at Albany High for our students currently in grades 8-11. The goal of this gathering is to support our families as students prepare to work with their guidance counselors to create their schedule for the coming academic year, keeping in mind post-secondary college/career plans.

During the event, Principal Jodi Commerford will share a presentation that gives a comprehensive summary of our course offerings at Albany High School in our various departments, sharing details about Regents courses, electives, advanced electives and more. At the conclusion of the presentation, there will be a tour of Albany High for anyone who would like to participate!

Parents and students are encouraged to review the Albany High course offerings prior to and after the event to gain a better understanding of what courses they'd like to consider including in their schedule for the coming academic year.

In addition to Curriculum Night, students will learn more about our course offerings in grade-level assemblies, and teachers will engage with our students during class in early 2026 to provide a more personalized view of course offerings, particularly in areas where students have many choices.

With a focus on promoting personal excellence, school counselors will encourage students to select required courses and electives which will challenge and engage them, while also reviewing graduation requirements.

Earlier this month, our freshman counselors began sharing classroom presentations and meeting individually with students to create schedules. They will continue through March 2026.

Starting in the new year and continuing until March 2026, high school counselors will be meeting with juniors and sophomores and middle school counselors will be meeting with students in grade 8 to create their schedules for the upcoming academic year.

Course requests must be completed by the last week of March, and students have until May 1 to make changes to their course selections. Families and students are encouraged to be thoughtful in their selections so schedules can be established in a timely manner, which will help pave the way for a smooth start to our upcoming 2026-2027 academic year.
