Welcome back grade 7!

The following is a message from North Albany Middle School Principal Andrea Piper:

Happy First Day back to our seventh graders! We are so very happy to have more in-person instruction occurring in the building and I'm confident we will all have an excellent fourth quarter - on-site and remote. We start strong, so we can finish even stronger! Parents thank you for letting us borrow your wonderful children as we continue to prepare them for their very bright futures. We understand that this is a transition for some of the students who are just returning and please know we are here to support you all.

Academics

Please encourage your student to pay close attention to their schoolwork. Students should work with their teachers to get all of their assignments completed and handed in on time. In their spare time, we should also encourage our scholars to read, write and apply what’s been learned as often as possible because as we all know, practice makes perfect!

Attendance

Every day counts! It is imperative that our scholars come to school every healthy day and arrive on time. It is very difficult to maintain classwork and attain the necessary content and skills needed if they are not present. Please make every effort to ensure your children are in class - on-site or remotely. We need your help and your support.

Cellphones

Cellphones can be a disruption in classes and unfortunately electronics take the focus off of education. Please remind your child that their cell phones should be off or on silent during the school day. If they have an emergency and need to make a call, they should go to the main office. If you have an emergency and need to speak with your child, please call the school (518.475.6800). Phones that become a consistent disruption in class will be subject fo confiscation.

Chromebooks

  • As you may already know, it is essential to your child’s academic success that they have their district assigned devices with them every day. Please review the NAMS Chromebook protocol below:
  • Students should bring Chromebooks fully charged everyday along with their charger
  • Chromebooks are to sbe used for instructional purposes only
  • If a student forgets their device they can borrow one and sign it out from Ms. Steckman, our assistant principal. Her office is located on the second floor.
  • If a student forgets their Chromebook more than three times they will be required to leave their district-issued device in the building to ensure it is charged and ready for the following day.

As the school year continues to progress, the North Albany Middle School staff would like to thank you for your assistance in helping your child make progress and meet excellence. We hope that you will continue to support us in our efforts to help your scholars meet their full potential. We want to ensure the success of the “whole child.” If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me (apiper@albany.k12.ny.us).
