Vegetable Project kicks off lesson at NAMS

Students build greenhouses out of milk jugs.

It may not feel like spring quite yet but we are getting closer if Friday’s classroom activity is any indication.

The Vegetable Project, and its amazing volunteers, assisted our eighth graders in starting seeds in homemade milk jug greenhouses.

We can’t wait to watch the seeds germinate, taste the “fruits” of our labor, re-pot the seedlings and move the young plants into our gardens – hopefully in April and early May.

The Vegetable Project is bringing this hands-on experience to 30 classes and one after-school program in the district – thanks for being a wonderful community partner!
