About our school

Principal David BernsleyHere at Edmund J. O’Neal Middle School of Excellence, we treat all students as unique individuals. Our administrative team, teachers and staff embrace individuality, encourage independence and honor and respect all backgrounds.

We don’t just believe in and advocate for our students. As veteran educators, we also use our insight and skill to guide and mentor with the goal of affecting every student’s life positively. 

Our designation as a community school allows us to function as a neighborhood center and provides additional support and services to students and their families during and beyond the regular school day.

Teaching academics along with social-emotional skills, we set the expectation that our students will take ownership of their learning, which helps to prepare them for future success at Albany High School, college and in their chosen careers.
