- Use this link or the button above to navigate to go.schoolmessenger.com.
- Click the "sign up" option in the top right corner.
- Enter your full district email (including the @albany.k12.ny.us) and create a password that meets the security requirements displayed on screen. Then click “sign up”.
A confirmation link will be sent to the work email you entered. The subject will be “Account Activation” and will come from “firstname.lastname@example.org.” Click the link in the email, which will bring you back to the log in page.
Enter your full email again, along with the School Messenger password you just created, then click “log in”.
- Now that you have successfully logged in, you can customize your preferences, including what types of updates you would like to receive and how, as well as add additional contact emails and phone numbers.
Your account will be automatically associated with the school building where your paycheck is sent. If you work in multiple buildings or are a district-wide employee and need to receive updates for additional buildings, please use the form below on the page to submit your request. District-wide urgent updates such as closings or delays will be sent via text to all buildings.
You can change your preferences at any time, allowing you to customize what types of news you would like to receive and how. Access your preferences by clicking the menu button in the top left. The different categories of alerts are:
Emergency: Urgent updates regarding things like school closures, early dismissals, safety concerns
District news: Information about news and events at the district level, including Board of Education updates, all of our student support departments including lotteries and registration
School news: School-specific information about news and events exclusive to your child's school
Attendance (not applicable to staff): For parents and guardians to receive automated attendance calls if our system indicates a child is absent
For each category, you can select what kind of notifications you would like to receive: phone call, text message and/or email. If you have added additional contact emails and/or phone numbers, you can also specify this information for each.
In addition to your albany.k12.ny.us work email, you can add additional emails and phone numbers. Once added, you can also set the preferences for which types of notifications you would like to receive for those phone numbers and email addresses.
Please note, the SchoolMessenger app is independent of our Human Resources database. If you need to update your phone number on file with the district, you will still need to contact Human Resources.
