Summer STEM at Delaware!

Students use tablets to program small robots

Incoming fourth- and fifth-graders at Delaware Community School had a chance to immerse themselves in all things STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – at two separate two week camps this summer.

Led by Math Interventionist Deb Whipple, students were introduced to coding then coded Dash Robots and BeeBots, created and completed a science fair project, competed in a STEM tower challenge and made works of art with 3Doodler pens.

They also worked with Mary Cosgrove from Albany Goes Green in our gardens and Susan Fowler in the Delaware Community Friendship Garden.

Take a look at a Facebook photo album of the activities. (You don't need a Facebook account to see the photos linked in the highlighted text. A window may appear that says, "To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)

The school will provide STEM after-school programs in the upcoming school year and continue the summer STEM camp next year.
